JUNIOR SQUASH CLUB
The meeting was held specifically to discuss proposals
drawn up by JM to establish the Stowmarket Junior Squash Club.
JM talked through his proposals and progress made to
date.
Decisions/actions as follows:
- The Committee agreed to wholeheartedly support JM’s proposals;
- The Committee agreed that the Club should affiliate to England
Squash (at an annual cost of £55) and that it would make it compulsory for
all team players to affiliate to England Squash on an individual basis (at
an individual cost of £6.50). (AG
confirmed that all current team players had agreed to meet this cost);
- The Committee agreed to underwrite the outstanding costs of circa
£200 incurred by JM and Maxine Dove in respect of gaining relevant
qualifications;
- It was agreed that the junior squash club coaching sessions will
commence on March 21st 2009 for juniors aged between 7 and
11. The sessions will take place on
Saturday mornings, initially on two courts at 10am and 10.45am. In the first instance, the Club will
book these court sessions for March 21st and 28th,
April 4th and 11th;
- AG confirmed that courts will be charged at junior rate (i.e. £3.20
per court per session) and that MSLC will grant one week of free courts in
order to support the launch of the junior club;
- AG offered to provide initial publicity for the junior sessions via
the MSLC Easter programme. JM to
liaise with AG re appropriate copy and details;
- JM to sort posters and leaflets for wider promotion of the junior
sessions, including on the Squash Club notice board;
- The Committee confirmed the intention to extend the club to juniors
aged over 11 from May onwards;
- JM to confirm charges for sessions in due course;
- JM confirmed that neither he nor Maxine intend to charge for their
coaching services
- The Committee agreed that the aim would be for the Junior Club to
develop in a way that is sustainable in the long term. Accordingly, it is intended that any
surpluses arising from the Junior Club will be ring-fenced for future equipment
and coaching needs;
- MP agreed to liaise with JM to sort a page on the Squash Club
website and an e-mail address for the Junior Club.
The Committee wished to record their thanks and
support to John and Maxine.
